My books are gay romance for readers who are tired of the camera cutting away right when it gets good. They are explicit, and they go to dark places: obsession, possession, the kind of want that doesn’t have very good manners. The men in them are filthy and funny and a little wrecked, and they get all the way to a happy ending, though they earn it the hard way, with the lights on.

I don’t make any of it up. I’m a gay man, and I have spent a good part of my life doing the things that end up on my pages. I know what rope leaves on the skin, and what a man needs once it comes off. I know how two people who met three hours ago will work out exactly how far they are willing to go, and hold each other to it. When that turns up in a book, it carries, because I lived it long before I wrote it.

That is why consent runs through everything I write like a live wire. People assume it is the dull part, the paperwork you sign on the way to the good stuff, and they have it exactly backwards. The rougher a scene gets, the more the yes matters, and the harder it lands. I will put two men through genuinely dark things, but one of them asked for it first, out loud, and meant every letter of it. That is the one line I hold, and it is also where the heat comes from.

I came up inside this world. I learned it by living in it, from people who were generous with what they knew. The dominance in my books takes a man apart and hands him back steadier than it found him. Submission, when it comes, is a gift from someone strong enough to give it. Pain, when it is there at all, is there to sharpen everything around it, in the hands of people who know precisely what they do.

I write from somewhere in Southeast Asia, a long way from where I started.

There is only so much a store page can tell you, so the honest warnings for every one of mine live on my own site, written out plainly enough that nothing in a story can blindside you. I would rather talk myself out of a sale than sell you a book that hurts you in a way you never agreed to.
